Former Beastie Boys member Mike D has had his eyes on design for a while. You may remember he designed homes a couple years ago and now he’s teamed up with L.A accessories designer Clare Vivier for a collection called ‘Mike D. X Clare V.‘ It includes tote bags, luggage tags, laptop cases, watches, and other items.
The collection stemmed from his time working with French duo Cassius who would show up to the studio with nice bags, while Mike D would have a backpack. He told Billboard, “Basically [creating this collection] was a very selfish exercise, if you want to get down to it. I was showing up at the studio all the time with no bag, being like, ‘I don’t want to have a backpack. I’ve had backpacks my whole life and I’m a grown man now. I should have something better.” The ‘Tomas Tote’ seen above goes for a cool $525.
