A$AP Rocky‘s long-awaited new album Don’t Be Dumb is finally out this Friday (1/16), and Rocky just released another single from it, “Helicopter$,” following last week’s “Punk Rocky” and its Winona Ryder-starring music video. “Punk Rocky” isn’t really a punk song, but it is a rock song, while “Helicopter$” is a straight-up bass-heavy trap song that finds Rocky in a more familiar form.
The song was produced by A$AP Rocky, Kelvin Krash, and Soufien Rhouat p/k/a Soufien 3000, and its video, directed by Rocky and Dan Streit, is a dystopian clip with 3D-rendered holograms and the same D.B.D. helicopter that Rocky used during last year’s Lollapalooza set. Rocky will also be the musical guest on this week’s Finn Wolfhard-hosted episode of SNL, and he’s headlining the Friday of NYC’s Governors Ball (the same day as Geese, who also play SNL this month, plus Clipse, Freddie Gibbs + The Alchemist, Japanese Breakfast, Hot Mulligan, Fcukers, and more).
