UK producer and heavy electronics dubmaster The Bug (Kevin Richard Martin) has signed to Relapse and announced his first album for the label. It’s titled Machine and will be out October 4.
The album began as “floor weapons” self-released between 2023 and 2024 on his Bandcamp, which have now been collected and recontextualized for Machine. He calls the album “ice cold and dystopian,” while showcasing “atmospheric pressure, and the joy of full body assaults, via oversized sound systems in undersized club rooms.” He also says the album is a direct descendent of the “Macro Dub Infection” style he pioneered on the influential mid-’90s compilations of the same name.
