Soulwax are back and have announced their first album in seven years, titled All Systems Are Lying and will be out October 17 via DEEWEE / Because Music. Described by brothers David and Stephen Dewaele as “a rock album made without any electric guitars,” the record was made at their DEEWEE studio in Ghent, Belgium using modular synths, live drums, tape machines and processed vocals.
There are two tracks from All Systems Are Lying you can hear now: the strutting, glammy “Run Free,” and the sinister, housey title track. Check them out below.
One of the best live dance music bands on the planet, Soulwax have festival gigs in London (7/25 at Junction 2) and Brussels (8/2 at Lokerse Feesten) this summer. They’ve played festival shows in North America in recent years, most recently replacing Massive Attack at Miami’s III Points last year, but haven’t toured here in ages and their last NYC show was 2011. They were supposed to tour in 2020 but that didn’t happen. Let’s hope that changes with the new album.
The Dewaele brothers have been in NYC more recently under their 2ManyDJs guise and will be in San Francisco in September for Portola 2025.
