It’s official: as promised, Madonna has made a sequel to her 2005 album Confessions of a Dancefloor, including once again teaming with producer / collaborator Stuart Price. Confessions II is out July 3 via Warner Records. “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong,” Madge says. “The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”
Madonna adds, “When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto”:
We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect
— with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.
