LA Priest (aka Sam Eastgate, late of Late of the Pier) has dropped a new EP, La Fusion, for Bandcamp Friday. “You cannot blend fusion with something else,” Eastgate says. “Fusion itself is the blending of realities. These are ideas I couldn’t have recorded in the jungle. Maybe they are metropolis songs. I took ideas written outside looking inward and finished them inside thinking outward.”
Two of the four songs were mixed by French touch legend Alan Braxe (1/2 of Stardust), including new single “Apple,” and you can definitely feel his presence on it. Estgate says, lyrically, it’s “a pep talk from an alien,” adding, “I wanted it to be enlightening even if the words don’t seem to make sense.”
