Chris Gethard has always embraced his New Jersey-ness, it’s in his DNA, but he is doing so now more than ever. In 2021 he launched the New Jersey is the World podcast which started monthly but is now weekly, where he discusses all things New Jersey. You can listen to the latest episode below.
Chris has now announced the New Jersey is the World tour, which will hit all of NJ’s 21 counties this year. Each show will be at very intimate venues (“the largest is 55 seats”), with “hyper local reference crowd work” and will other Jersey comedians joining him. “I’ve always prided myself on being able to look at the comedy scene and to see where the coolest shit is happening, and I feel lucky to tell you right now something fucking cool is happening in Jersey,” says Chris. “A lot of hard working, hilarious, versatile comics are doing great things around here. I take no credit for it but am happy to help shine a spotlight on it.”
The New Jersey is a World Tour kicks off August 9 in Cape May and includes Jersey City’s Pet Shop on September 15 with Alex Grubard and Alex Nicholas. Only the first 10 shows have been announced.
Before he begins his NJ tour, Chris has a few other shows, including Improv Brooklyn on July 26 where he be performing with Tami Sagher at early and late shows. All announced dates are listed below.
