NYC’s Village Halloween Parade returned for its 51st annual edition on Thursday night (10/31), bringing thousands to the streets of the Village. Temperatures topping 70 degrees and a continued lack of rain made for perfect conditions for the beloved holiday tradition, whose 2024 theme was “Meow.” To go with that there were cat puppets and a “cat ladies unite” section (with many people holding political signs urging people to vote), in addition to the usual assortment of awe-inspiriting puppets of skeletons, pumpkins, and more.

Attendees came attired in costumes inspired by pop culture, horror, politics, music, and beyond; we spotted people dressed as Chappell Roan (both in her Governors Ball Lady Liberty look and as members of the Pink Pony Club), Freddy Krueger, Chucky, Taylor Swift, Sponge Bob and Patrick, Beetlejuice, Trump, skeletons, Mario and Luigi, Cinderella, Maleficent, Frankenstein and his brige, a cat-filled NYC bodega, aliens, Edward Scissorhands, Yankee Stadium, Jason Voorhees, David Bowie, Coraline and her Other Mother, the subway, the pope, an inflatable penis, The Doll from Squid Game, The Crow, Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, Captain Jack Sparrow, The Grinch, zombies, pizza rat, the Men in Black, cows, Carrie, Furbies, Pac-Men, Pinhead, and more.
