Back in 1995 The Beatles released Anthology, an acclaimed documentary series, along with a compilation album and book. Thirty years later they’re re-releasing it all as The Beatles Anthology 2025. The Beatles Anthology Book is out October 24 (preorder), The Beatles Anthology Music Collections box set is out November 21 (preorder the vinyl), and the expanded Beatles Anthology documentary series hits Disney+ on November 26. The new Beatles Anthology documentary was originally an eight-part miniseries that aired on ABC. There’s now an all-new ninth episode featuring “unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul, George and Ringo coming together between 1994 and 1995 to work on The Anthology and reflecting on their shared life as The Beatles.” The restoration has been overseen by Apple Corps’ production team, working with Peter Jackson’s Wingnut Films & Park Road Post teams (who made Get Back) along with Giles Martin (son of late Beatles producer George Martin), who has “created new audio mixes for the majority of the featured music.”
The Beatles Anthology 2025 box set includes the original three compilations (Vol 1 was released in 1995 while Vol 2 and Vol 3 were released in 1996) into one box set, remastered by Giles Martin, and then adds a fourth volume that includes 13 previously unreleased demos, session recordings, and other rare recordings, plus new mixes of the songs “Real Love” and “Free as A Bird” by producer Jeff Lynne. The 25th Anniversary Edition of The Beatles Anthology book is a reissue that doesn’t seem to include any new material. Preorder it in the BV shop.
