Fresh off releasing the second edition of his acclaimed book In Defense of Ska, Aaron Carnes will begin an East Coast book tour this week. It kicks off on Thursday (12/5) at a Barnes & Noble in Philly with Sad13 (aka Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis) and Jim McGuinn, followed by an event at Bensalem, PA’s Broken Goblet Brewing on Friday (12/6) at which fellow ska author Marc Wasserman will celebrate his new book Soul Salvation: A Gen X Love Letter To The English Beat. Connecticut gets an event on Saturday (12/7) with live ska music from PWRUP, Kmoy, and Llama Tsunami.
Last but not least, Aaron will do his first-ever NYC In Defense of Ska event at St. Marks Comedy Club on Sunday (12/8) at 3 PM, with a opening comedy set from Turner Sparks, followed by a reading from Aaron and a conversation moderated by yours truly (Andrew Sacher). I interviewed Aaron remotely earlier this year for the BrooklynVegan podcast, and I’m looking forward to doing it again in person, should be a blast. Come join us, it’s free with RSVP.
